Raipur District, with population of about 40.6 lakh is Chhattisgarh's the most populous district, located in the state Chhattisgarh in India. Total geographical area of Raipur district is about 12 thousand km2 and it is the 2nd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 328 persons per km2. There are 15 sub districts in the district, among them Raipur is the most populous sub district with population of about 13.7 lakh and Deobhog is the least populous sub district with population of about 94 thousand.

There are 8 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Raipur Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Raipur Municipal Corporation; Birgaon, Bhatapara, Tilda Newra, Gobra Nawapara and Baloda Bazar Municipalities and Tilda Newra Municipality and Out Growth.

The district is home to about 40.6 lakh people, among them about 20.5 lakh (50%) are male and about 20.2 lakh (50%) are female. 70% of the whole population are from general caste, 18% are from schedule caste and 12% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Raipur district is 14%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls.
