Durg District, with population of about 33.4 lakh is Chhattisgarh's the 2nd most populous district, located in the state Chhattisgarh in India. Total geographical area of Durg district is 8535 km2 and it is the 4th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 392 persons per km2. There are 13 sub districts in the district, among them Durg is the most populous sub district with population of about 11.3 lakh and Thanakhamria is the least populous sub district with population of about 78 thousand.

There are 8 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Bhilai Nagar Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; Durg Municipal Corporation; Bhilai Charoda, Dalli-Rajhara, Kumhari, Bemetara and Jamul Municipalities (limited to 5 most populous).

The district is home to about 33.4 lakh people, among them about 16.8 lakh (50%) are male and about 16.6 lakh (50%) are female. 74% of the whole population are from general caste, 14% are from schedule caste and 12% are schedule tribes.
