Total geographical area of Janjgir - Champa district is 3853 km2 and it is the smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 420 persons per km2. There are 10 sub districts in the district, among them Champa is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.1 lakh and Baloda is the least populous sub district with population of about 1 lakh.
