Koraput District, with population of about 13.8 lakh is Odisha's the 16th least populous district, located in the state Odisha in India. Total geographical area of Koraput district is 8807 km2 and it is the 3rd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 157 persons per km2. There are 21 sub districts in the district, among them Jeypore is the most populous sub district with population of about 1.8 lakh and Kotiya is the least populous sub district with population of about 10 thousand.

There is only one city in the district that comes under the district administration which is Jeypur Municipality.

Demographics

The district is home to about 13.8 lakh people, among them about 6.8 lakh (49%) are male and about 7 lakh (51%) are female. 35% of the whole population are from general caste, 14% are from schedule caste and 51% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Koraput district is 16%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 3.4 lakh households in the district and an average 4 persons live in every family.
