Rayagada District, with population of about 9.7 lakh is Odisha's the 10th least populous district, located in the state Odisha in India. Total geographical area of Rayagada district is 7073 km2 and it is the 8th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 137 persons per km2. There are 15 sub districts in the district, among them Rayagada is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.2 lakh and Andirakanch is the least populous sub district with population of about 15 thousand.

There is only one city in the district that comes under the district administration which is Rayagada Municipality.

The district is home to about 9.7 lakh people, among them about 4.7 lakh (49%) are male and about 5 lakh (51%) are female. 30% of the whole population are from general caste, 14% are from schedule caste and 56% are schedule tribes.
