Puri District, with population of about 17 lakh is Odisha's the 9th most populous district, located in the state Odisha in India. Total geographical area of Puri district is 3479 km2 and it is the 10th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 488 persons per km2. There are 15 sub districts in the district, among them Nimapada is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.1 lakh and Ramachandi is the least populous sub district with population of about 23 thousand.

There is only one city in the district that comes under the district administration which is Puri Municipality.

Demographics

The district is home to about 17 lakh people, among them about 8.7 lakh (51%) are male and about 8.3 lakh (49%) are female. 80% of the whole population are from general caste, 19% are from schedule caste and 0% are schedule tribes.
