Kupwara District, with population of about 8.7 lakh is Jammu & Kashmir's the 5th most populous district, located in the state Jammu & Kashmir in India. Total geographical area of Kupwara district is 2379 km2 and it is the 9th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 366 persons per km2. There are 3 sub districts in the district, among them Kupwara is the most populous sub district with population of about 5.4 lakh and Karnah is the least populous sub district with population of about 60 thousand.
