Total geographical area of Srinagar district is 1979 km2 and it is the 12th smallest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 625 persons per km2. There are 2 sub districts in the district, among them Srinagar (North) is the most populous sub district with population of about 12.2 lakh and Srinagar (South) is the least populous sub district with population of about 20 thousand.
