Jamui District, with population of about 17.6 lakh is Bihar's the 11th least populous district, located in the state Bihar in India. Total geographical area of Jamui district is 3098 km2 and it is the 11th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 568 persons per km2. There are 10 sub districts in the district, among them Jhajha is the most populous sub district with population of about 2.7 lakh and Gidhaur is the least populous sub district with population of about 78 thousand.

Demographics

The district is home to about 17.6 lakh people, among them about 9.2 lakh (52%) are male and about 8.4 lakh (48%) are female. 78% of the whole population are from general caste, 17% are from schedule caste and 4% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Jamui district is 18%, among them 51% are boys and 49% are girls. There are about 3.1 lakh households in the district and an average 6 persons live in every family.
