Gaya District, with population of about 43.9 lakh is Bihar's the 5th most populous district, located in the state Bihar in India. Total geographical area of Gaya district is 4976 km2 and it is the 2nd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 883 persons per km2. There are 24 sub districts in the district, among them Gaya Town C.D.Block is the most populous sub district with population of about 6.5 lakh and Atri is the least populous sub district with population of about 82 thousand.

There are 2 cities in the district which comes under the district administration, those are - Gaya Municipal Corporation and Out Growth; and Gaya Municipal Corporation.

The district is home to about 43.9 lakh people, among them about 22.7 lakh (52%) are male and about 21.2 lakh (48%) are female. 70% of the whole population are from general caste, 30% are from schedule caste and 0% are schedule tribes.
