Saran District, with population of about 39.5 lakh is Bihar's the 7th most populous district, located in the state Bihar in India. Total geographical area of Saran district is 2641 km2 and it is the 16th biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 1496 persons per km2. There are 20 sub districts in the district, among them Chapra is the most populous sub district with population of about 4.4 lakh and Lahladpur is the least populous sub district with population of about 80 thousand.

The district is home to about 39.5 lakh people, among them about 20.2 lakh (51%) are male and about 19.3 lakh (49%) are female. 87% of the whole population are from general caste, 12% are from schedule caste and 1% are schedule tribes.
