Total geographical area of Sonbhadra district is 6905 km2 and it is the 2nd biggest district by area in the state. Population density of the district is 270 persons per km2. There are 3 sub districts in the district, among them Robertsganj is the most populous sub district with population of about 9 lakh and Ghorawal is the least populous sub district with population of about 2.9 lakh.
