Siliguri Municipal Corporation, with population of about 5.1 lakh is West Bengal's the least populous municipal corporation located in the state West Bengal in India. Total geographical area of Siliguri municipal corporation is 22 km2 and it is the smallest city by area in the state. Population density of the city is 23544 persons per km2. There are 47 wards in the city, among them Siliguri Ward No 46 is the most populous ward with population of about 31 thousand and Siliguri Ward No 11 is the least populous ward with population of 1912.

Siliguri is the sub district head quarter of the city. District head quarter of the city is Darjiling. Kolkata is the state head quarter of the city. Yearly average rainfall of the city is 2800 mm. Maximum temperature here reaches up to 39°C and minimum temperature goes down to 4°C.

The city is divided into 2 parts, the parts are - Siliguri (Part 1) and Siliguri (Part 2) Municipal Corporations.

Demographics

The city is home to about 5.1 lakh people, among them about 2.6 lakh (51%) are male and about 2.5 lakh (49%) are female. 100% of the whole population are from general caste, 12% are from schedule caste and 1% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Siliguri municipal corporation is 10%, among them 52% are boys and 48% are girls.
