Bongaon Municipality, with population of about 1.1 lakh is North Twenty Four Parganas district's the 7th least populous municipality located in North Twenty Four Parganas district of the state West Bengal in India. Total geographical area of Bongaon municipality is 14 km2 and it is the 13th biggest city by area in the district. Population density of the city is 7629 persons per km2. There are 22 wards in the city, among them Bongaon Ward No 19 is the most populous ward with population of 7385 and Bongaon Ward No 18 is the least populous ward with population of 3305.

Nearest railway station is Chandpara which is 10 km far from here. Bongaon is the sub district head quarter of the city. District head quarter of the city is Barasat which is 55 km away. Kolkata is the state head quarter of the city. Yearly average rainfall of the city is 314 mm. Maximum temperature here reaches up to 39°C and minimum temperature goes down to 9°C.
